Overview of KPSEA 2023 Results

What Is KPSEA

The KPSEA (Kenya Primary School Education Assessment) is an exam by Grade 6 students in Kenya under the new Competency-Based Curriculum. It aims to assess learners’ learning progress and provide feedback to stakeholders. KPSEA consists of subjects like:

The examination is structured to include multiple-choice questions and is marked using new technology like Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Machines. The final KPSEA score combines School-based Assessments (SBA) and summative national assessments (SNA), with 60% from SBA and 40% from SNA. Unlike the traditional KCPE exams, KPSEA is not for placement but for monitoring learners’ progress, and transitioning to Junior Secondary School is automatic regardless of the score obtained in KPSEA.
